about

Piano man Ian McGlynn gives a taste of what’s to come with the first single from his forthcoming album. Coming across like Death Cab For Cutie masquerading as an eighties band, “Memorial Day Parade” features quirky synth leads, chiming guitars and an aching falsetto. The b-sides include a gorgeously sparse take on The National’s “Mistaken For Strangers” and a wistful, cinematic instrumental.

about

For most of the past decade, the quietly famous Ian McGlynn has been churning out heartbreakers and soul stirrers. Songs ... more that have served as accompaniment to major motion pictures and minor heartaches.

You may have heard of him. You may not have heard of him. The important thing is, of course, that you hear him. less

Track Name: Memorial Day Parade
LYRICS:

A stab of light
Bright and blind
When the memory attacks
A glimpse into
Someone’s future
Won’t stop a blast from the past

No last words
No long goodbye
You just slipped into eternity
I never knew
Who’ll ever know?
All that messy mystery

We all go on and we all go on...

And it’s true
I’m just like you
Destined to disappear too soon
Yes it’s true
I’m just like you
Destined to disappear

We all go on and we all go on...

Oh my God, where are you?
And where did he and she go to?
Oh my God, tell me true
Where did he and she go to?

We all go on and we all go on...
And we’re all so small
