about

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before.” That’s right, it’s Edgar Allan Poe season. Ian McGlynn’s favorite time of the year. Sweet and spooky October. And to celebrate Halloween this year, Ian’s opening his door to all trick-or-treaters. So crunch your feet upon those dead leaves that lead up to Ian’s door, ring his bell and hold your pillowcase wide open, because there’s a super special treat waiting for you indeed. Better than a full-size Snickers bar. It’s Ian’s new Halloween single! And we’re talking A-side and B-side here, kids. Kicking it old school. So it feels like TWO full-size Snicker bars in your sack.

The A-side is an ode to feeling sad in honor of the creatures that live beneath your bed (and you know they do, just stick your hand down there when the lights are off in the middle of the night for further proof). It’s called “Monsters Cry Too,” co-written, as is often the case, by fellow fall colors fan, Chris Newkirk. The B-side is a uniquely spooky take on a deep cut from alterna-legends The Church’s Priest=Aura album called “Witch Hunt.” Yes, we’re into themes here at Camp McGlynn. Both songs feature the shivery fantastic vocal talents of young Emmanuelle Nadeau (she even takes a starring turn on the B-side) and the always welcomed recording and playing skills of Dave Macarone.

The cover art was supplied by Germany’s Kristina Wegener. Her compellingly dreamy Circus Utopia painting series is the perfect accompaniment to the single and she graciously has allowed Ian to use her signature painting as the cover. Moreover, she created an original piece for the song that will accompany Ian onstage.

about

For most of the past decade, the quietly famous Ian McGlynn has been churning out heartbreakers and soul stirrers. Songs ... more that have served as accompaniment to major motion pictures and minor heartaches.

You may have heard of him. You may not have heard of him. The important thing is, of course, that you hear him. less

Track Name: Monsters Cry Too
LYRICS:

ooh...

I can't always be under your bed...
or first in your fears
I can't wrench off your head...
if I can't cut off these tears

And just because it's Halloween
It doesn't mean that everything is OK
We all get this way...we all get this way

And it's true...monsters cry too...monsters cry too

I can’t devour your mother and father...
when I’m this depressed
And I don’t know why I even bother...
pulling your heart from your chest

And just because it's Halloween
It doesn't mean that everything is OK
We all get this way...we all get this way

And it's true...monsters cry too...monsters cry too
And it's true...monsters cry too...monsters cry too

ooh...

And it's true...monsters cry too...monsters cry too
And it's true...monsters cry too...monsters cry too
And it's true...monsters cry too...monsters cry too
