about

Introducing Ian’s second annual Christmas song!

A dreamy mingling of piano, banjo and other hopeful sounds, “The Snow Angel and the Icicle Sword” is a five and a half minute musical wish—a prayer of sorts, a plea for protection over the ones you love. Inspired by the relentless health issues facing Ian’s songwriting partner’s baby niece, Jaquelynn, the song is dedicated to her in more than one way. 100% of the profits the song generates on ianmcglynn.bandcamp.com will be donated towards Baby Jaq’s healthcare costs.

Angelic assistance comes from John Mosloskie (of Holler, Wild Rose!) who played on, co-produced and mixed “Snow Angel,” Chris Newkirk who invented the snow angel to watch over his niece, Dave Macarone (of Shy Talkers) who mastered it, and Meredith Farmer, whose photo graces the cover.

So pick up your icicle sword and join the fight…check out the song today!

lyrics

LYRICS:

Here you lie half-dead
Ankle-deep where I pressed my head
What could make you rise
From the foot of snow that fell last night
And when the sun begins to shine
On the trees I used to climb
Something falls

An icicle lay melting
Where my left arm made your left wing
I tremble at the sight
In the foot of snow that fell last night
You and your icicle sword
Protect the ones that I adore
This Christmas

Leave this place
Go and keep my girls safe

about

For most of the past decade, the quietly famous Ian McGlynn has been churning out heartbreakers and soul stirrers. Songs ... more that have served as accompaniment to major motion pictures and minor heartaches.

You may have heard of him. You may not have heard of him. The important thing is, of course, that you hear him. less
