about

Singer-Songwriter Ian McGlynn puts his bewitching balladry and waltzy wonderfulness on the back burner in favor of some straight-up, hook-laden synth-pop.

Following on the heels of his piano-driven album, This Is The Sound, and a slew of like-minded singles, Ian’s latest batch of songs plumb everyone’s second favorite decade – the eighties – for inspiration.

Nostalgic new wavey sounds collide with cute-as-cool indie sensibilities that make the dying world of radio feel alive again.

Ian McGlynn’s new single “Change the Weather” is helping put NJ back together after Hurricane Irene left some families homeless and many homes in need of serious repair. Ian is donating half of every purchase to World Cares Center, who are dedicated to help those hit hardest get back on their feet. So help change the weather for your neighbors by downloading “Change the Weather” today – directly through Ian’s Bandcamp page.

lyrics

LYRICS:

We are born, we are formed in the eye of the storm
We make peace, we climb trees
to find the spaces that the sun has reached

(And) if it rains on our parade
We'll just pretend it's ticker-tape

We sing songs, stupid songs, this is our sing-along
Easy rhymes, cheesy lines,
it won't sound right if there isn't something wrong

(And) if it rains on our parade
We'll just pretend it's ticker-tape

Listen to your mother, always stick together when they're raining on your brother then it's time to change the weather

So here we stand undermanned with umbrellas in hand
So let it pour, let them punch,
there are no words or winds we can't withstand

(And) if it rains on our parade
We'll just pretend it's ticker-tape

Listen to your mother, always stick together when they're raining on your brother then it's time to change the weather

Daughters and sons
Here comes the sun

(And) if it rains on our parade
We'll just pretend it's ticker-tape

Listen to your mother, always stick together when they're raining on your brother then it's time to change the weather

about

For most of the past decade, the quietly famous Ian McGlynn has been churning out heartbreakers and soul stirrers. Songs ... more that have served as accompaniment to major motion pictures and minor heartaches.

You may have heard of him. You may not have heard of him. The important thing is, of course, that you hear him. less
